Located on the rocky Maine coast, Mount Desert Island, abounds with natural beauty attracting visitors from all over the world. Acadia National Park encompasses half of the island and offers a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities including scenic drives, hiking, biking, boating, and more.
Take the Bus! The Island Explorer operates from late June through Columbus Day and features eight bus routes linking hotels, inns, and campgrounds with destinations in Acadia National Park and neighboring villages. Buses will stop anywhere along routes as long as it is safe to pull off the road.
